Auditions for 2026-2027 Season
These current members will be asked to re-audition in August:
Similar to last year, each singer should prepare a short 1-2 minute song or hymn to perform at the audition, and bring a copy of the music for the accompanist. Adam will also test your vocal range.
Audition sign-ups open in August!
Our New Logo
Thank you to everyone who voted on our previous logo designs.
There was strong support among the Board and membership for both designs, so instead of choosing one, our talented designer Heather Harrison created a third option that combines the best of both logos. It was approved by the Board in June.
The new logo evokes the bridge over the Halifax River that unites our community. We thank Heather for donating her time to create so many beautiful logo options!

Adam will be conducting Pirates of Penzance at Carnegie Hall on June 20, 2027 and interested singers are invited to join him! We are doing the whole show, and the chorus will function as the "chorus of pirates, etc." with soloists from Broadway in the roles. We need roughly 225 people from across the country to sign up otherwise the concert will probably be cancelled and folks will get their money back.
This is an optional activity! If you sign up through the portal it is the "Concert Only" package, These prices include the concert activities and dinner/post concert cruise...does not include travel/hotel/meals, etc.
Performers: $1399

If you know other singers (high school age or older) who might be interested in coming they can sign up as well. It's 5 days/4 nights.
For questions, please contact Adam, or Jeremy is helping with the coordination of the portal. Use the link below to put your name on the "interested" list (no obligation) then Jeremy will send you more information.

Carry your music in the black folder provided by the choir.

The choir rehearses every Monday night from 7:00-9:00 pm, September to May, with several weeks off after the December concert. Additional rehearsals may be scheduled as needed. Download complete schedule for more details. To best prepare for the concert, choir members should miss no more than two rehearsals for each concert.
We rehearse at Daytona State College, in the Goddard Center, bldg. 230. Park in parking lot S and enter on that side of the building.
You may download a Daytona State Map from the file list above.

Halifax Master Chorale is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors with assistance from other choir members and committees. Elections are held every March and members are encouraged to run for office or join a committee.
Talk to any board member to learn more. See current Board member names and photos below.
Weekly rehearsals take place from 7:00-9:00 pm, with chamber ensemble rehearsals from 9-9:30 pm, at Daytona State, unless otherwise noted.

Adam announced at the April 20th rehearsal that Bel Canto Singers of Daytona will be rebranded as the Halifax Master Chorale and the small group will become the Bel Canto Chamber Singers. Please review the FAQs below for more information or contact Adam with any questions or concerns.
Why are we doing this?
Our choir has evolved and the current name no longer reflects who we are. We do not sing true ‘Bel Canto’ music. In addition, we often don’t perform in Daytona Beach, and many of our members do not live in Daytona Beach. Keeping the name for the chamber group will help us maintain continuity with our old brand.
How was the new name selected?
In Florida, "Halifax" primarily refers to the Halifax River, a 25-mile saltwater river/estuary in Volusia County that is part of the Intracoastal Waterway. It also commonly identifies the surrounding "Halifax area" (centered on Daytona Beach), specifically the region encompassing Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach, Holly Hill, Daytona Beach Shores, and Port Orange. This geography is more reflective of who we are and where we perform. Calling ourselves a ‘master chorale’ signifies a large, elite group.
How does this fit with the future vision for the group?
In the future, Adam envisions growing the choir to a larger group of 60-100 members. We may also add additional small groups, for example a women’s chorus, and add a small orchestra that would play with us at every concert. The ‘master chorale’ name gives us room to grow as it encompasses this larger, more expansive vision.
When will the group names officially change?
We announced the new branding at our May concert. The Board has been working over the summer to update our website and social media presence. We will open with our new branding in the fall for next season.
How will this be communicated to our audience, local musicians, and other stakeholders?
We have now updated our logo and website to reflect the new branding, and FAQs have b. In addition, we would add an article and FAQs explaining the new brand on the website and promote the new brand in e-mails to our stakeholders over the summer.

Through a generous donation of professional services, vocal coaches Kathleen Grammar, Anita Wimbish, and Jeanne Luke will be offering up to three free voice lessons/coaching sessions to each member of Bel Canto Singers. Those auditioning for spring concert solos and ensembles will have first priority, then others will be eligible as time allows. Please choose just one teacher and schedule your free lessons with her. If you already study with one of these teachers, you may take advantage of these complimentary lessons as additions to your regular coaching, not as a substitute. Please contact the coaches directly to get started.
